The RXAP 2024 Roller Derby Subscription

The Short Version

1. 12-month commitment of $40 per month.

2. You receive all the published photographs where you are featured or a clear part of the intended photo.

3. Guaranteed a minimum of 3 photographs per calendar day (event). $85 value at my 2024 pricing.

4. I attend all the tournaments/bouts/home league bouts I can (if not previously booked).

5. Photos delivered to your personal online gallery within 28 days of the event/day or your next month is free.

6. Maximum people per team applies.

7. Big discounts are offered for families with multiple members.

The Longer version

1. This subscription is open to skaters, on and off-skate officials, vollies and bench staff and covers all derby bouts across Victoria in 2024, not just Statewide Stampede. Exceptions apply, read below.

2. There is a 12-month commitment of $40 per month. $40 is equal to 2 of my photographs. Even if you are not photographed within a calendar month, the $40 is still required to be paid. The timeframe is the 12 calendar months of 2024.

3. Within 28 days (4 weeks) of the day or 42 days (6 weeks) for multi-day events (TGSS/ECC etc) you will receive ALL the published photographs where you are featured or a clear part of the intended photo in your own password-protected online gallery. Whether you receive a photograph is at my discretion. If you are teeny tiny in the background and blurry, you are not part of the intended shot.

4. The word “published” refers to being added to my online gallery. I intend to publish less on Facebook in 2024. All photos that meet my minimum standard from a bout/event will appear in the gallery regardless of whether they make it to Facebook or not.

5. You are permitted to use your photographs for personal use. Print photos, cups, mouse pads, doonas, keyrings or anything else your parents would accept with a fake smile. Feel free to add to Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, X, Threads, MySpace or wherever!

6. You can not make personal or financial gains from the photos (no brand deals) without my written permission and no photos from your subscription are to be used for league or commercial purposes without my written permission.

7. There is no set number of photos you will receive but you are guaranteed to receive a minimum of 3 per calendar day you are photographed. If I can not provide you with 3 photographs, your next month is free. In 2023, the most a single person received in a day was 31 photos and the least was around 3 (and they weren’t even playing that day).

8. If you are involved in multiple bouts throughout a day, I will endeavour to capture a photo from each bout, but my primary focus (pun intended) is your primary team, role.

9. There will be a maximum number of subscriptions per league based upon how much I feel I can cope with. If your league has multiple teams that regularly compete, I may be able to accommodate more. 

10. Payments must be made by the 28th of the previous month. Payment can be made via bank transfer, cash or card and an invoice can be provided if required.

11. If you sign up after February 1, 2024, all previous months must be paid for at the beginning of your subscription. As I keep all published derby photographs, I will go back and add any photographs of you to your gallery. Photographs from months before you start the subscription are not included in the guaranteed 5 photos per day agreement.

12. Non-payment will cause your gallery to be locked and I will no longer be able to publish photos including you for the remainder of the year.

13. The subscription does not include any event/bout held by VRDL and may exclude any bout including a VRDL team at my discretion. Also, no subscription photographs will be taken at the VRDL factory.

14. I am taking a step back from my regular photography (weddings etc) to focus more on roller derby, however, I will still be accepting outside bookings. It is up to my subscribers to advise me as soon as possible of any event/bout they are involved in so I can lock the date into my calendar.

15. I do not guarantee in any way that I will be available for all events and/or bouts but will attend if at all humanly possible. 

16. On days when multiple events in different locations are happening, I will attend the event with the most subscribers. At tournaments where multiple bouts with subscribers are happening at once, I will break the bouts into halves (or quarters if necessary).

17. If I can not obtain a media pass to an event I will pay for entrance to ensure I can photograph, however, this may mean I am not allowed to shoot from inside the track.

18. The subscription does not include any interstate travel unless I intend to travel with my family to the event. If in doubt ask. TGSS is a pretty safe assumption. If in doubt ask. Otherwise, all parts of Victoria are in my intended destinations.

19. Although I appreciate those wishing to pay for the entire year upfront, I am insisting on monthly payments to ensure I stay motivated and accountable.

20. If you experience financial hardship throughout your subscription, please contact me to discuss.

21. Subscription pricing does not include prints, but imagine the coffee table book you can create at the end of the year! I will however provide a 25% discount on any prints purchased through me.

22. If you plan to apex jump, I need at least 24 seconds advance notice to ensure I have a 20% chance of maybe getting the shot as those refs have a habit of getting in my way when I’m in the middle. It also depends on where I am located in relation to the jump as I use a long lens. Cleary yelling “Hawkeye - I’m doing it!” will be very helpful and will increase your odds of getting a photo. The same applies to refs jumping a downed skater and star-passes.
