Wedding Photography Frequently Asked Questions
What do we get for our money?
No matter how long I am photographing, you will receive the following:
Me! I never double book and send someone else. I will make you feel at ease, make you laugh and make you look and feel like the amazing people you already are.
As many digital photographs as I can supply. You won’t get any where you are looking less than amazing. If the photograph meets my standard, it’s yours. I do not make you choose or hold back any images for an up-sell. You get the lot. As a guideline, you will normally receive at least 30 images per hour, more often a lot more.
Your images will be uploaded to a password protected gallery where you can view, share and download them as soon as they are ready. You are free to share the gallery with anyone you choose and it will be available until for a minimum of three months. You will also receive a USB with your images on there as both high-resolution print ready and as social media ready low-resolution images.
I can gladly supply a photograph for a thank you card if you wish to create these before you receive your photographs.
There are additional perks for longer bookings (like our famous reception slideshow with take home photographs or prints for the home) but they will be discussed with you when we talk.
What about the hidden extra costs? There’s ALWAYS hidden costs.
There are no hidden costs. You’ll know everything you are up for before you sign the agreement.
Additional non-hidden costs may include travel (for longer distances only), accommodation, additional photographer (if you want one), prints etc. But you will have agreed to everything before you are charged.
Can we add another photographer to our package for all or part of the day?
Yep. But you will have to pay the fee and be prepared for a bucket full (no actual bucket provided) more awesome photographs. I have worked alongside the additional photographer I use and we work well as a team.
How do you want the payment?
50% will secure your date. This is a non-refundable payment if things happen we don’t like to talk about on the website.
50% of the balance is due 7 days prior to your wedding. You will be notified well in advance.
The remainder of your balance (including any additional costs like agreed overtime) is due before I release the gallery to you.
You will receive an official invoice for each required payment. All payments can be made online or in person via cash or card. I have the technology and can provide receipts upon request.
What if you are sick on the day?
Never happens (touching all the wood I can find around me … twice).
In the extremely rare case it does, you wouldn’t know about it.
If an extremely never happened before the type of situation occurs and I am incapacitated, I have a network of amazing photographers (but not so amazing you should book them instead of me, ok?) I can contact at a moment’s notice.
How long will we have to wait before we see our wedding photos? Are we going to have to chase you?
You will be given an estimation of how long your wedding photographs will take to present to you before I leave your wedding. As a guideline, I estimate up to 2 weeks per wedding ahead of you (with a minimum of 4 weeks). I always edit weddings in the order I photograph them, but NEVER longer than 8 weeks from your wedding day.
You will not have to chase me. I will even let you know when I begin working on your photographs. From that notification, you will receive access to them within 14 days. When I am editing, nothing gets in my way (i don’t even have to do the dishes!) … Except for Monday nights. I have pizza and band practice Monday nights.
How will our photographs look? Are you just going to throw a filter over all of them and call it “art”?
Nope. No filters. I want your photographs to be timeless so I edit in a clean style. Every photograph gets my full attention as I desk dance along to a rather eclectic selection of music blaring far too loud in my headphones. Your white dress (or dress shirt) will be white, not yellow, brown, or green. The colours of your day will be represented as accurately as possible. The photographs you see on this website are an accurate indication of my style of editing.
If we have you at our reception, will you take advantage of our bar tab?
No. I do not drink.
The only drinks I will have (even if you very kindly offer alcohol) are water or Coke No Sugar (if available). I have a responsibility to provide you with amazing (and not horizontally impaired) photographs. I have a beautiful wife and child to whom I’d like to get back home safely after I’ve finished rocking your wedding.
Listen, we are kind of new to this whole wedding thing and we have no clue who to approach. Could you do us a solid and recommend some vendors with which you have worked?
Yep. :)
Do you do that “Trash The Dress” thing and will my dress be trashed?
Oh heck yes I do. I’ve photographed many (most involving water) TTD sessions and in all cases, the dresses have been totally unharmed. A little wet, but unharmed. In fact, these sessions include an assistant whose primary role is to make sure no harm becomes of you or your dress.
Must say, I’m pretty impressed you made it this far. Very cool. You are obviously very intelligent, pretty and amazing people who value photography and need a photographer just like me.
From here, we need to get together over a beverage of your choice to talk all things wedding photography. I can only demonstrate so much passion over text, you really need to meet me to be sure that I am right for you both.
